As a captain, you play a crucial role in organizing and leading your team. Whether you're a first-time or a seasoned captain, this page provides resources to help you get you and your team ready for matches and understand league rules.




Aspiring Captains

Becoming a USTA tennis team captain is a rewarding way to lead your tennis team, build lifelong friendships, and play a key role in growing the sport of tennis in your community. As a captain, you’ll help organize league tennis matches by working with your players to create match lineups and all matches are scheduled with our Maine USTA League Coordinator.


Familiarize yourself with the USTA League Regulations to understand rules and important league information.


Getting Started

There are 3 steps to becoming a USTA League captain:

  1. Create a USTA Account
  2. Complete the Team Commitment Form
  3. Find players to field your team

The Maine USTA League Coordinator will contact you once the team registration period starts, and will provide instructions on how to register your team into the league.



Current Captains

If you are a current USTA tennis captain, thank you for your dedication to your tennis league team and to growing the sport of tennis in our community. Your leadership is essential; you organize your team, communicate USTA league rules, share match schedules, and ensure every player is ready for their matches.


Preparing for Matches

The Maine USTA League Coordinator will provide you with the match schedule and any other relevant information. As a captain, you will need to ensure that your team is prepared for each match by fielding the match with lineups.

Matchday Responsibilities

In addition to organizing your team for the match, you will also need to bring the following to the match:

  1. Lineup sheet/scorecard
  2. Payment form
